Volcano Eruption Experiment!

So how does this experiment work?  We'll go through everything  you need to bring this fun and erupting experiment to life!  But first...let's dive deep down, we mean deep deep down, into the center of the earth and find out how real "Volcano Eruptions" take place.  

What Is A Volcano Explosion?

A volcano is a mountain that opens downward to a pool of molten rock below the surface of the earth. When pressure builds up, eruptions occur causing a violent and deadly blast that can send unsuspecting people and animals running for their dear lives and can be heard from thousands of miles away!!  But not to worry; this is not the type of Volcano Explosion we will be creating today.

Here's what you'll need to make a Volcano 'Explosion!!!'...

1. A Vase and a pan underneath to contain the awesome explosion!
   
2. About a cup or two of vinegar.
   
3. A couple of tablespoons of baking soda.
   
4. Some sprinkles or glitter to make it look great!
   
5. Red food coloring.
   
6. A Lego to surf the "Volcano Explosion!"
   

Once you have your ingredients ready YOU (yes you!) get to participate right along with us while we create one of our favorite science experiments! So.why does the Volcano “Explode”? It’s science! Baking soda and vinegar

mixed together create what is called a ‘’chemical reaction”. In this case adding baking soda to vinegar creates “carbon monoxide”(the stuff you breathe out, how cool!) but in this case the carbon monoxide expands, so it makes our explosion REALLY BIG!
