Getting Real About Mental Health on the WAG Podcast
July 27, 2026

Most talk shows treat mental health like a topic to mention and move past quickly. We didn’t want to do that.
We gave it a full episode of the WAG Podcast — no rushing through it, no joking it off, just an actual conversation.
Why We Did a Full Episode on This
It would have been easy to skip this topic entirely, or fold a couple of comments about it into a lighter episode. We didn’t want to do that. Mental health is something almost everyone our age thinks about, and it deserved more than a passing mention.
So we sat down and actually talked about it — openly, honestly, without trying to wrap it up with a neat conclusion by the end.
What the Conversation Was Actually Like
Some moments were easy to talk through. Others weren’t, and we let them be uncomfortable instead of rushing past them. That’s kind of the point — real conversations about this don’t always tie up cleanly, and pretending they do would have defeated the whole purpose of doing the episode.
This Isn’t Professional Advice — And We Want to Be Clear About That
Everything in this episode is the hosts sharing their own experiences and thoughts, not professional guidance. If you’re going through something difficult, the most important step is talking to someone who can actually help — a parent, a school counselor, or a licensed professional. In the U.S., the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) is available 24/7, for free, anytime.
Why We Think Conversations Like This Matter
- It’s normal to talk about it. The more this gets treated like any other real topic, the less alone anyone has to feel bringing it up themselves.
- Nobody has it all figured out. Part of what made this episode real is that we didn’t pretend to have perfect answers.
- Being heard matters. Sometimes the most useful thing isn’t advice — it’s knowing someone else has felt something similar.
